Community
At Sacred Heart, community is at the heart of who we are. We believe that when families, staff, students and the wider community work in partnership, children flourish—academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally.

We’re proud to foster a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment where every family feels they belong.
Partnerships with Families
We value strong, trusting relationships between home and school. Working in partnership helps us understand each child deeply and support them in ways that are responsive and effective.

One of the ways we collaborate closely is through Program Support Group (PSG) meetings. These are held 2–4 times a year for students receiving adjustments as part of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
PSG meetings bring together:
-
Parents and carers
-
Classroom teacher
-
A member of leadership
-
Support staff and/or allied health professionals (when relevant)
Together, we celebrate student growth, review supports, and agree on strategies that help the child thrive—academically, socially and emotionally.

We also take steps to meaningfully support families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. For students who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL), we begin by creating a sociolinguistic profile that helps us understand the student’s language journey and adjust classroom learning and communication accordingly.

We are committed to walking alongside every family, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected.
School Events
School events are a much-loved part of life at Sacred Heart. They bring us together in celebration, reflection and shared joy—strengthening our sense of belonging and connection.

Some of our annual highlights include:
-
Beginning of Year Mass – Launching the year together in prayer and community
-
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast – A relaxed morning of fun and food on the oval
-
Cross Country & Athletics Carnivals – Colourful, high-energy house events full of team spirit
-
Foundation–Year 2 STOMP Extravaganza – A performance celebration of learning, with parents invited to dance along
-
Feast of the Sacred Heart – A special day of Mass, fun and ‘Family Group’ activities across year levels
-
Grandparents’ Day – Mass and morning tea to honour the important people in our students’ lives
-
Book Week Dress-Up Day – Celebrating reading through costume and creativity
-
RUOK? Day Breakfast – Promoting connection, kindness and wellbeing
-
School Concert – A showcase of student talent and joy through Performing Arts
-
End of Year Mass – A time of reflection, gratitude and farewell for our graduating students
We also hold fortnightly school assemblies, led by each class on a rotating basis. Assemblies are a celebration of learning, a time to sing together, and a chance to recognise students living out our school expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe.

Families are always welcome at these events—and your presence is what makes them so special.
School Advisory Council
Our School Advisory Council provides a valued parent voice in the life of Sacred Heart. The council offers advice to the
Principal in key areas such as:
-
School improvement
-
Community engagement
-
Facility planning
-
Faith and mission initiatives
The Council includes six parent representatives alongside members of the school leadership team. It meets at least four times per year, and works in a consultative, collaborative spirit.
Nominations for new parent representatives open each year in Term 4, and all families are warmly encouraged to apply.
Volunteering
We love when parents and carers get involved—and there are many ways to do so. Whether you have a few minutes or a few hours, your time is always valued.

Some common opportunities include:
-
Assisting with classroom learning activities
-
Helping at sporting events or excursions
-
Supporting canteen or uniform shop operations
-
Contributing to fundraising events
-
Preparing meals or helping out at the Parish Soup Kitchen
All volunteers must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and follow our Child Safety Code of Conduct.
Volunteering is a great way to connect with other families, support your child’s learning, and model the value of service and participation.
